The Simerly Lab is part of the Vanderbilt Center for Addiction Research at Vanderbilt University

The major focus of this laboratory is to determine how environmental factors utilize endocrine signals to direct formation of limbic-hypothalamic circuitry to exert a lasting impact on how those circuits process and transmit information affecting physiology and behavior. Our technical approach utilizes molecular genetic tools to visualize, measure and manipulate neural circuits to gain a brain-wide understanding of how circuit architecture defines homeostatic phenotypes.
